Great!
This has been great for my son! He loves it and it’s giving him more confidence with walking by himself. This works best on hard surfaces. I like the durability of the wood and it does not run away from him like many of the plastic push toys.
Overall I am very satisfied with this and my son loves it!
fun for my 9 month old
My 9 month old son had been pulling up and cruising along the couch for some time & we thought he’d be thrilled with a toy he could push and walk with. When this cart arrived, I could barely get it together fast enough, he was so excited with it visually! The crocodiles are adorable, they don’t clack loudly at all. The cart is designed so it won’t tip backwards very easily, so my son can pull up on it to walk. He gets just the right speed for his age on our carpet, not too fast. Very bright and such a nice alternative to the plastic junk you see. Something you’d want to hold onto for awhile. And the price is great at $26. here on amazon.
2 thumbs up for the Wodden Chomp and Clack Alligator Push Toy
What makes a great gift for a one year old boy? The Chomp and Clack! It’s durable and easy to assemble. Out of all the gifts my nephew received on his birthday, I think this was one of his favorites. My sister loved the Chomp and Clack too because it’s made out of wood and she will be able to pass it down to any future children her and her husband may have.
the wheel came off and will not stay on
I bought this walker for my Son’s 1st birthday, and it is really cute. But it only lasted for a dozen or so pushes around the living room before the wheel fell off! I have gorilla glued it two times now and tried to nail it back on and that was very difficult. I think there is better out there and for lot less money.
Loud, but a favorite!
My son got this right before he started walking and it really encouraged him to get up and go. It’s very sturdy and will easily make it through our baby #2… and still be able to be handed down again. It is very loud as the alligators snap up and down as you walk… but I suppose that is part of the excitement for toddlers. Now that our son is 3 – he still likes to chase us with it and refuses to let it be put away. The back wooden bar on it is carpet level and almost works as a static vacuum – it collects dog hair and dust as it zooms over the carpet no matter how recently we’ve cleaned. And that isn’t really a complaint… just interesting and slightly embarrassing when company is over. ;o)
Please be careful with this toy!
i never put reviews on these things but my son was 13months old & went to push this toy, slipped & his face hit the handle……..busted his lip & it required 5 stitches by a plastic surgeon. this toy is dangerous in my opinion. we threw it out immediately.
This toy has broken twice...
My mother in law bought this toy for our 1 yr old daughter and one of the side alligators broke off almost immediately. We returned the toy, and got a replacement and the same thing happened with the center alligator. I can’t understand why this keeps happening, but we will ask for a refund instead of a replacement. Although she likes pushing it around, this toy is bad news on functioning properly.
Great push toy for beginning walkers
My one year-old loves this toy. It took her a few tries to figure out how to change directions, but now that she has that down, she loves it. I especially like that the wheels have a rubber strip on them that add some traction-some of the other push toys she has have a tendency to roll too quickly and slip out from under her-this one is a little more stable for her in that regard.
yikes! splintered wood, falling hazard- who knew?!
Wow, what a bummer. We have lots of Melissa and Doug toys, and I’ve always been very happy with their quality and durability. This one however, is shameful! My first clue should have been as I was taking it out of the box, the top layer of cheap wood splintered off. Had I bought it in a store, I’d have taken it right back. This was a birthday present for our daughter though, and bought online, so I thought “Well, it’s just one strip of wood.” Our child loved this toy right away…that being said, within the first week the entire area of blue wood began splintering off. All over the floor. Not only could my daughter have choked on a piece, but she could have scraped or cut herself, etc.
Cheap craftsmanship aside, my daughter has lost her balance and toppled over the top bar twice, and hit her head on the wooden alligators. Now, the toy didn’t cause her to lose her balance, but considering this is a toy made for toddlers, and toddlers tend to topple, wouldn’t they have thought of the possible injuries?
Overall, an INCREDIBLE DISAPPOINTMENT and I’m sorry to say that it’s made me a little wary of Melissa and Doug toys in general.
Very good!
I bought this for my friend’s son for his first birthday, he took to it right away! Although he couldn’t figure out how to turn it around on his own, he loved racing from one end of the house to the other. Now, a year and a half later, he has passed it on to my 1 year old. Sure it has suffered a bit in a year and a half of heavy use (he still played with it well after he walking on his own), but nothing a little wood glue can’t fix. Initially I had purchased a Radio Flyer push wagon for my son to use (a LOT more expensive), but it turns out he likes the alligators MUCH more. It’s nice and stable and it doesn’t move too fast the way some of the lightweight plastic walkers do. The only drawback it that it is hard to turn with it, but that seems to be true of all the heavier/more stable walker toys I’ve found and I’ll trade manueverability for safety and stability any day.
