  1. Target has a better one
    by J. Passe

We bought one just like this in Target, made for Target and it has none of the problems listed on this product. Paint is still intact after many plays, looks still like new and we have so much fun with it. Stacking and sorting colors, making color piles, then shape piles, then stack by color, by shape etc. It has lots of uses to prevent boredom. Great toy. Yes, you should be careful not to have in laying down in the middle of the room or someplace where your toddler can fall on it. Clean up after play and just have fun with this.

  2. Excellent toy

All you need to do is look at this stacker toy to know it has obvious teaching potential. Saw it in one of our more creative toy stores and bought it. My son when he was 15 months old, and he was fascinated the moment I gave it to him. He still plays at it for long periods, he is now 19 months old. I couldn’t keep all of the pieces together, so I remedied this by keeping it in the bathroom along with only a few other toys. Perfect solution – - he plays with it while I shower and get ready. It keeps him quite entertained. The pieces are then easy to pick up and stow in the corner. I have not had problems with the durability or paint, except for one ring which he threw in the damp tub. I did not notice it for over 24 hours and much of the paint chipped off. User error. We love this toy.

  3. love the stackers
    by Cathy L. Vining

I was looking for blocks and the stacker was a recommendation, so I purchaed. I am a Melissa and Doug fan and again I was not disappointed. It is a great learning toy for my granddaughter. She spends a lot of time playing with the stacker. The quality of the toy is as always with a Melissa and Doug toy 100%

  4. Poor quality control
    by Offsky

When we got this toy out of the box, about a third of the pieces were stuck together because the toy had apparently been packaged when the paint was still wet. When I pried the pieces apart, paint from one piece was stuck on the other piece. After I was done, it was looking pretty ugly.

  5. no paint issues
    by K. O. Harrison

I received this toy today (12/11/09). I was concerned because of other reviews stating that the blocks stuck together from a poor paint job. I am happy to report that the paint job is fine and no pieces are sticking together.

I understand concerns about the posts that stick up and would suggest using without the base for kids who aren’t stable enough yet. I preferred this version to the standard plastic baby one since instead of just allowing for standard stacking, this toy also helps kids learn how to fit different shapes together and sort by size, shape or color. When my daughter was young enough to need the baby version, she had no ability to stack so I skipped the baby one. She’s now 15mo’s old and ready for the better wooden one. I’m glad I waited.

  6. Stacker x3
    by Maryann Treasure

This stacker is very durable, and its fun to have 3 kinds of stackers in one (they progress in difficulty as well). The board is actually not to big, so it doesn’t take up lots of space. I’ve had no problems with paint chipping. Beautiful colors too.

  7. My 14 month old loves it
    by A. Crandall

My 14 month old loves it and so do i because it’s educational. He is at the stage where he loves putting the lids on things, and things on things, wish i had bought this sooner.

  8. This a favorite!
    by K. Russ

I am highly recommending this toy because the little pieces don’t have to go on the pole in a set order. The pole is a dowel and the holes in the rings are all the same size thus the child can get them all on at a much earlier age – doesn’t need to understand biggest ring first. Secondly, it’s size allows it to fit in a carry-bag for a toy on the run; I used it as entertainment in restaurants easily. Thirdly, I am still using it because now we are into learning colors. It was well worth the investment.

  9. Just don't lose a piece......
    by Rachael

I’ll start by saying that i love their products. Anything without batteries that holds my son’s attention for that long? How can one go wrong. Easy. Lose a piece. My son misplaced one of the round pieces. I wrote to Melissa and Doug. They responded that each one was hand made and therefore there are no replacement pieces. I respect their craftsmanship and quality but come on, have a couple of extras made for spare parts in case someone loses one. I am sure I was not the first to request one.

  10. Years of Fun
    by Grandma

Young toddlers enjoy taking apart. Older have skills to sort. Wooden toy should be around for years.
